Our mathematics curriculum is guided by the Common Core Math Standards. As part of the implementation of these standards Cranston Public Schools uses a math program called Eureka Math.Topics of study include Numbers to 10, Two-Dimensional and Three-Dimensional Shapes, Comparison of Length, Weight, Capacity, and Numbers to 10, Number Pairs, Addition and Subtraction to 10, and Analyzing, Comparing, and Composing Shapes. Students will explore concepts through individual, small group, and whole class settings. There will be a focus on choosing, applying and combine skills and the use of math vocabulary.
Mathematics in Kindergarten has two main focuses.
1. Representing, relating, and operating on whole numbers, initially with sets of objects.
2. Describing shapes and space.
